I’m teaching in Maine this summer!

I hinted at a big announcement in my last post, and now it’s public: I’m teaching Top Down Center Out at the Slow Fashion sewing retreat in Maine this August!

****doing a little happy dance****

If you enjoy my fitting content here or on YouTube, the retreat will give us the opportunity to take all of the basic concepts from Top Down Center Out and explore them in much more depth and detail. There are also several big topics — like crotch curves, pattern grading, and making changes to the inseam — that I just haven’t had time to cover in a video or blog post but will definitely be on the syllabus this summer.

In my session, I’ll guide you through the steps of Top Down Center Out and offer coaching as you fit a toile. We’ll also have plenty of time for a Q&A, as well as a discussion on troubleshooting and strategies for making decisions during the fitting process. My #1 goal is for every student to feel like they are set up with the framework for trouser fitting success by the end of the retreat.

All the details are up on the Gathering of Stitches website if you’d like to learn more. I’m also super excited about the other two teachers who will be at the Slow Fashion August retreat — Rae Hoekstra and Jessica Marquez — I am huge fans of them both!

Registration opens on March 3 if you’d like to join me in the woods for a week of sewing summer camp. I can’t wait!

I’ll leave you with a few photos from my last trip to Maine as inspiration (not the Medomak retreat center, but still equally beautiful)…
